Fruit, asparagus and wine.
In 2007, the beautiful agricultural village of Erpolzheim celebrated its 1230th birthday. The village lies on the course of the Isenach brook between the Rhine Plain and the Haardt mountains and goes back to a foundation by the Frankish clan leader Erbold. Erpolzheim is first documented in books of the Lorsch monastery in 777 as "Erbholfesheim".
Thanks to the predominant sandy soil, one of the noblest vegetables grows in the Erpolzheim area: asparagus. A "Culinary hike through asparagus, fruit and wine" in May will make the asparagus lover's heart beat faster. The wine for the hike is, of course, from our own cultivation, because here, too, viticulture has been practiced for centuries. A winegrowers' cooperative in association with the neighbouring community of Kallstadt and four self-marketing wineries ensure the cultivation and sale of Erpolzheim wines. The most important white wines include Riesling and various types of Burgundy. Erpolzheim's red wines are among the best in the Palatinate, as evidenced by many national and international awards.
Integrated fruit growing is consistently carried out in Erpolzheim and has been producing excellent qualities for years, which have received the highest awards several times.
In the protected area "Erpolzheimer Bruch" you can experience pure nature. Whether on foot or by bike, here you can enjoy - without getting out of breath - a largely untouched landscape, interrupted now and then by a horse pasture,
